The Inside Story

Police Solve Murder Case with Clue Found on Victim's Shirt in Pune

The Pune rural police successfully solved a murder case with the help of a clue found on the victim's shirt. The body of Pundalik Ganpat Gawde was discovered on Saswad-Kapurhol Road in Purandhar taluka on May 22. The victim's shirt had the address of the tailor who had made it, Mahesh from Kothrud, Pune 38, written on it. The police were able to locate the tailor, who identified the photograph of the dead man as P G Gawde.

Gawde's family members later identified him as a 55-year-old resident of Velhe in Purandhar taluka who ran a business of car rentals. The police discovered that his car and mobile phone were stolen after the murder. While investigating, the police found out that Gawde's handset was being used by Nitesh Pardeshi, who later confessed that his friend Vijay Ganesh Gangadhare and Uma Shankar Malika Arjun Kanagi were involved in the murder.

Further investigation revealed that Kanagi assaulted Gawde with a sharp weapon in Katraj, Pune, and then dumped him on Saswad-Kapurhol Road. Thinking that Gawde was dead, the suspects returned to the scene to collect his driving license but found him still alive. They then killed him and fled with his license. The police later arrested Kanagi and Gangadhare from their hideouts and recovered the car, handset, and sharp weapon. They are currently searching for the third suspect, Mayur Totelu.
