Cardiologist Shot Dead in Mumbai
A well-known cardiologist in Mumbai, Dr. Vasant Waman Jaykar, was shot dead on January 11th by two unidentified persons. The incident took place at Latakunj Building, 12th Road Khar, where Dr. Jaykar had his clinic on the first floor. He was leaving his clinic and heading towards the ground floor when he was shot at about 1:30 pm.
The doctor was immediately rushed to Babha Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission. The motive for the murder is not yet known, and a case has been registered with the Khar police station. Dr. Jaykar was an honorary surgeon with St George's Hospital and a teacher with Grant Medical College. He was known to be a low-profile individual and had no known enemies.
Dr. Jaykar is survived by his wife, who is a pediatrician with Nair Hospital, and two sons. The police have started their routine investigation and have already questioned the family's servant, who has been with the family for 14 years.
