Man kills girlfriend and her sister-in-law in Panvel hotel

A man from Khopoli, identified as Chandrakant Gaikwad, was arrested for murdering his girlfriend and her sister-in-law in an abandoned hotel at Panvel. The accused suspected that his girlfriend was avoiding him and getting influenced by her husband's sister.

The incident came to light when a man informed the New Panvel police about the bodies of two women and a little boy lying in Golden Hotel in Panvel, which has been abandoned for the last 15 years. The police identified the two women as Darshana Anil Thakur (30) and Bharati Thakur (24), who were reported missing by their family the previous day.

During interrogation, Anil, the deceased's husband, revealed that Darshana had been seeing Gaikwad and suspected that they were having an affair. Gaikwad confessed to killing both the women. He said that he had been suspecting Darshana of avoiding him for the last one and a half months, which he felt was because of her sister-in-law's influence. Gaikwad was arrested under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
