Katpadi, Tamil Nadu

Home Alone Woman Murdered in Katpadi

A 54-year-old woman, Parimala, was found murdered at her daughter's house in VG Rao Nagar, Katpadi. She had come along with her husband to visit their daughter, Sujatha, on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon, Sujatha found her mother missing, and the articles and clothes strewn. She also noticed blood stains in the bathroom and on the lock of a small room. On calling the police, they broke open the room to find Parimala's body in a pool of blood with her throat slit.

According to the police, a couple had approached Parimala on the pretext of enquiring about houses for rent. The killers had accompanied her to the second floor and murdered her there. The killers had stolen her jewels and valuables before locking the room from outside. On inspection, a pair of women's footwear was found, indicating the involvement of a woman. Forensic personnel lifted fingerprints from the spot. DIG R Tamil Chandran and SP P Vijayakumar visited the murder scene.

The police suspect the involvement of more than two people in the murder. Investigations are ongoing.
