Industrialist's Minor Son Kidnapped, Tortured, and Killed

Jaskirat Singh, a 14-year-old Class-10 student, was kidnapped on Monday and found murdered on Wednesday in Kapurthala, Punjab. The post-mortem report revealed that the kidnappers subjected him to torture. A medical board of three doctors discovered that the accused strangled the boy thrice with a rope and fractured eight of his ribs. The accused had also tied bricks to the boy's body, and the police believe that they had planned to throw the body into the Beas river.

The kidnappers dumped the body in a field near Goindwal, three kilometers from a bridge after spotting a checkpoint and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed at the bridge's entrance. The police suspect that the kidnappers were known to the family and that it was a planned murder. A ransom call was made to misguide the police and the family.

The police have recovered CCTV footage from shops in the market, but the kidnappers' faces are not clear. The police are urging shopkeepers and residents to install CCTV cameras. The city has 30 functional cameras, and 50 to 70 more cameras will be installed in city markets this month. READ MORE
