Crime Patrol: Minor, locked in almirah, rescued from Gurgaon house (Case 4/2017 - Episode 757 - 13th January, 2017)

On Wednesday evening, a 14-year-old girl who worked as a maid in a house in Krishna Colony, Gurgaon, was rescued by an NGO and the Gurgaon police after being found locked in a cupboard. The girl, who hails from Gumla district in Jharkhand and had been working as a domestic help for the past year, had deep bruises and a deep knife cut on her back. She was given only two chapatis a day and was hungry all the time. The police arrested the husband and wife who were the employers of the girl under sections 323 (Assault), 506 (Threatening for life), 374 (Unlawful compulsory labour), 344 (Wrongful confinement for ten or more days), and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The girl was sent to the civil hospital for a medical examination, and her statement was recorded in front of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) full bench on Thursday at Mini Secretariat. The CWC has also informed the chairperson of National Commission of Scheduled Tribes after the incident.
