The Inside Story

Two individuals from Dolkhola, Bengal were kidnapped and subsequently murdered in Begusarai district on Saturday night. The victims were identified as Rajendra Thakur (68) and his grandson Nakul Thakur (22). Their bodies were found in a roadside ditch in Bihat, under the jurisdiction of Food Corporation of India (FCI) police outpost in Begusarai on Sunday morning. The victims had come to their relative Ramcharitra's house for marriage negotiations.

The house owner Ramcharitra Thakur reported to the police that the room in which Rajendra and his grandson were sleeping was found opened in the morning and the two were missing from the room. Later, a resident informed the family that the bodies of their relatives had been spotted in a roadside ditch.

The Begusarai SP, Ranjit Kumar Mishra, stated that the police had sent a team to Bengal to ascertain the reason behind the murder and that the role of a notorious criminal who had been released from jail recently was also under the scanner of the police. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained, and a few suspects have been picked up for interrogation. The bodies have been sent to the Begusarai sadar hospital for a post-mortem.
