Pune, Maharashtra - April 21, 2017

21-year-old Pravin Prakash Pallelu was arrested by the Kondhwa Police for allegedly brandishing a sword and threatening residents of Shivneri in Kondhwa Khurd for extortion money. Pallelu is a resident of Kolhapur and was earlier arrested in three cases, including two murders and a body offense. He had committed five offences between 2009-11, including planning dacoity, body offense, Arms Act, setting a motorcycle on fire, and vehicle theft. He was taken into preventive action by the police in 2009. A police team had twice visited Kolhapur to trace him, but his whereabouts were unknown for one and a half years.

After receiving a tip-off, a police patrol reached Shivneri and arrested Pallelu. He tried to run when he saw the police but was overpowered by the policemen. The police recovered the sword from him, and he was arrested under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Sub-inspector Jitendra Kadam registered a complaint against Pravin. The Pune Cantonment court has remanded him in police custody till Saturday.

The case highlights the need for law enforcement to be vigilant and proactive in dealing with criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of citizens. It also highlights the importance of rehabilitation and support for individuals who may be at risk of turning to a life of crime due to various socio-economic factors.
